Setup Guide: Yahoo
To configure Yahoo Mail with Attachment Bot, follow these steps to set up IMAP access and generate an app password.
Enable IMAP Access in Yahoo Mail
First, make sure IMAP is enabled in your Yahoo Mail:
- Sign in to your Yahoo Mail account.
- Go to 'Settings' by clicking the gear icon in the upper right corner.
- Select 'More Settings' from the dropdown.
- Click on 'Mailboxes', then select your Yahoo account.
- Ensure that 'Allow apps that use less secure sign in' is turned on.
Generate an App-Specific Password
Yahoo requires an app-specific password for using IMAP with third-party apps:
- Go to the Yahoo Account security page at https://login.yahoo.com/account/security.
- Sign in if prompted.
- Scroll down to 'App passwords' and click 'Generate app password'.
- Choose 'Other App' and give it a name (e.g., Attachment Bot).
- Click 'Generate'. Note the 16-character password—it won't be shown again.
Adding Your Yahoo Account to Attachment Bot
With IMAP enabled and your app password:
- Open Attachment Bot and navigate to the accounts tab in the sidebar.
- Tap 'Add Account'.
- Enter your full Yahoo email address.
- Use the app-specific password generated in the previous step.
- For the IMAP server, enter 'imap.mail.yahoo.com' and port 993.
- Save your account information to start accessing your emails in Attachment Bot.
Ensure you keep your app-specific password secure to protect access to your Yahoo account.
