Setup Guide: AOL
To configure AOL Mail with Attachment Bot, follow these steps to set up IMAP access and generate an app-specific password if necessary.
Enable IMAP Access in AOL Mail
AOL Mail IMAP access is typically enabled by default, but you can verify the settings:
- Sign in to your AOL Mail account.
- Go to 'Options' and then 'Mail Settings'.
- Click on 'IMAP' to ensure that IMAP access is enabled.
Generate an App-Specific Password
If you use two-step verification with your AOL account, you'll need an app-specific password:
- Go to the AOL Account security page at https://login.aol.com.
- Sign in if prompted.
- Navigate to 'Account Security'.
- Click on 'Generate app password' or 'Manage app passwords'.
- Select your app from the list or choose 'Other App' and type 'Attachment Bot'.
- Click 'Generate'. Note the password, as it will not be shown again.
Adding Your AOL Account to Attachment Bot
With the necessary settings configured:
- Open Attachment Bot and navigate to the accounts tab in the sidebar.
- Tap 'Add Account'.
- Enter your full AOL email address.
- Use the app-specific password if you have two-step verification enabled, otherwise use your regular AOL password.
- For the IMAP server, enter 'imap.aol.com' and port 993.
- Save your account information to start accessing your emails in Attachment Bot.
Make sure to keep your app-specific password secure to maintain the integrity of your AOL account.
